Abstract

Background: Neck pain is any discomfort felt in the lower region of the cervical spine. Point prevalence ranges from 6% to 22% and up to 38% of the elderly population, while lifetime prevalence ranges from 14.2% to 71%. Craniovertebral angle (CVA) is a credible indicator of forward head posture.

Objective: To determine the effect of postural reeducation and specific therapeutic neck exercises on pain, disability and quality of life with non-specific neck pain.

Material and Methods: A Randomized Clinical Trial was conducted. A sample of 32 participants was collected using Non probability purposive sampling technique. After fulfill the inclusion and exclusion criteria participants were randomly allocated into two groups postural re-education and therapeutic neck exercises using a computer generated random sheet using www.random.org. The participants were getting 3 treatment sessions per week for 4 weeks after that follow-up reading were taken at 6th week. Assessment was done at baseline, after 4 week treatment and after 6th week follow-up. The outcomes from participants were calculated by using Numeric Pain Rating Scale, SF-36 and Neck Disability Index. For Data analysed 27 version of Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS-27version) was used.

Results:

Conclusion: This study concluded that posture re-education and therapeutic neck exercises both are effective on reducing pain, improving functional impairment and quality of life in individuals with non-specific neck pain. Therapeutic neck exercises reduce more pain on other side posture re-education exercises improve more functional impairment and quality of life.
