Abstract

Background: Quality of service is considered as the benchmarks for healthcare and the nursing is a profession which have care as a core value.  They are the largest part of the healthcare system responsible for provision of direct and indirect health care services.

Objective: This study aimed to assess patient satisfaction with nursing services at Capital Hospital CDA, Islamabad.

Methods: This cross-sectional study with systematic random sampling technique was conducted at Capital Hospital CDA, Islamabad from 1st September 2024 to 31st December 2024 on 386 willing male and female patients with a validated tool to gather data from the participants.

Results: Out of 386 participants, we had 56.2% male and 29.5% belongs to ≥61 year’s age category. Majority of them rated nursing care as either "Fair"(40%) or "Good" (29%) with key determinants of satisfaction including the perceived concern of nurses, their helpfulness, and responsiveness to patient calls. Gender and age were significant factors in satisfaction levels (with p. value= p < 0.001), with older patients (≥61 years) generally reporting higher satisfaction. Significant differences in satisfaction were observed based on the length of hospital stay.

Conclusion: While nursing care was generally perceived positively, there is potential for improvement in areas such as communication, timeliness, and addressing patient concerns. The findings provide valuable insights for enhancing nursing practices and improving patient care quality, with actionable recommendations for hospital administration and nursing staff.
